RESEARCH SHOWCASE

21st January 2009

The SRSS and the IRMC held an Academic Showcase the Council Chamber, on Wednesday 21st of January, 2009.

Objectives

  • To introduce the areas of research being pursued by IRMRC and SRSS staff
  • To explore opportunities for shared research and grant applications
  • To identify areas in which recruitment would enhance existing skills and expertise in research

Presentations

An introductory presentation will give an overview of the research activities, and capabilities, of the IRMRC and the SSRS. We will then hear a research presentation from each of the key research areas from each group (12 minutes each, plus 3 minutes for questions and changeover).

Talks should provide an overview of the research area, relevant available skillsets, and example projects.

Workshop

Opportunities for shared research Researchers from each of the groups will have an opportunity during a roundtable discussion to develop ideas for future research, identify possible synergies and partners, and lead projects to collaborate on.

The key themes on which we will focus our discussion include:

  • Road and transport injury
  • Recreation and sport injury
  • Work injury
  • Risk and disaster management
  • Patient Safety and Health Services Research

PRESENTATION MATERIALS

The following are PDFs of the presentations made on the day. They are listed by the primary name attributed in the document, and in the absence thereof, the name of the person who submitted it.

Barach, Paul
Friswell, Rena
Hatfield, Julie

Khalil, Christian

Leonte, Daniela
Makin, Anne-Marie
McIntosh, Andrew
Mitchell, Rebecca

DISCUSSION SUMMARIES

Following the presentations, some "round table" discussions were conducted. The following are the summaries/notes taken at these discussions.

LIST OF PAPERS

The list below are papers that will be showcased on the day. Click on the paper's title to download it in PDF form. Please note that although some of these papers have multiple authors, only the primary SRSS/IRMRC author is indicated in this list. In some instances, there is more than one author from within the group, as well as other external authors..

NOTE: Due to copyright reasons, we can no longer have these documents linked and downloaded directly from this website.

They have been moved to the \shared\collaboration\showcase folder on your shared Novell drives. You can get these papers from there.

Alternatively, if you know the link for a paper on the publisher's website, and it is publicly accessible from there, then you can provide me with that link and I will attach it to the relevant paper.
