ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR PhD (UNSW, 1995),MBiomedE (UNSW, 1991), BAppSci (PT) (CCHS, 1984) Phone : 938 55348 Email : a.mcIntosh@unsw.edu.au Dr. Andrew McIntosh is an Associate Professor in Biomechanics at the School of Safety Science, and directs the Biomechanics and Gait Laboratory. He coordinates and lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students from programs in Safety Science, Biomedical Engineering and Health and Sport Science. Dr. McIntosh has been an active researcher in the area of the biomechanics since 1992. His main research interests fall into two areas:
In the area of the biomechanics of movement, he has been directing the biomechanical component of the clinical gait analysis service at Sydney Children's Hospital since 1998. Clinical gait analyses are undertaken in the biomechanics and gait laboratory. Research in this field has seen studies of upper limb motion and the effectiveness of BOTOX in treating spasticity. He is continuing biomechanics research into gait on inclines, sports injury, and the dynamics of movement in sports. |
