Description :

This course explores principles of health and safety risk management, including the legal context and methods of risk identification assessment and control. Principles of health and safety risk management are applied to a selection of physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards in the workplace.

  
Objectives : At the end of this course students should be able to :
  • correctly define and use the terminology of safety risk management
  • describe how the risk management process of AS/NZS4360 is applied in the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) context
  • plan an SHE risk management program
  • Apply and critically evaluate risk ranking tools
  • Assess risks associated with selected physical, chemcial, biological and ergonomic hazards and recommend controls

Week 9 : Chemical hazards, regulations, classification systems, transport and storage
Week 10 : Hazard Communication systems Chemicals risk assessment
Week 11 : Plant and Equipment
