Objectives : After completing this course, students should:
  • understand occupational health concepts and language sufficient to be able to communicate effectively with occupational health and safety professionals.
  • understand environmental management concepts and language sufficient to be able to communicate effectively with environmental management professionals.
  • develop an appreciation of the inter-relationships of workplace hazards and risks, health, and injury, disease and mortality.
  • analyse issues of occupational health and safety that are of relevance to the student's background or work experience.

Description : Principles of occupational health and safety. The control of workplace risks. The legal system, duty of care and occupational health and safety legislation including workers' compensation and rehabilitation law. Environmental protection law. OHS and environmental management system standards. Safety and environmental auditing.
