- understand occupational health concepts and language sufficient to be able to communicate effectively with occupational health and safety professionals;
- understand environmental management concepts and language sufficient to be able to communicate effectively with environmental management professionals;
- develop an appreciation of the inter-relationships of workplace hazards and risks, health, and injury, disease and mortality;
- analyse issues of safety, health and environment that are of relevance to the student's background or work experience.
