Description :	Independent studies are designed to provide opportunities for candidates to pursue interests and areas of study not addressed in existing courses. Students will explore in-depth problems specific to their own discipline or area of work. They will demonstrate critical analysis and synthesis of relevant literature (which may cross several different disciplines). This project will involve planning, defining the project goals, defining search strategies, conducting the survey of the literature, and presenting the findings in a dissertation.
