Description : This course examines current issues and problems in ensuring the effective management of safety, health and environment (SHE) in the building and construction industry. Topics include SHE legal responsibilities, implications of changes in SHE legislation to the building and construction industry, contractual relationships with subcontractors; SHE risk assessment and control strategies; SHE performance indicators; safeguarding of plant and equipment; management systems, audit and review; conflict resolution and human behaviour; SHE accident and incident investigation and SHE Best Practice initiatives in the building and construction sector.
  
Objectives :

The main objectives of the course are :

  • Provide an overview of the principles of safety management as related to SHE in the construction industry.
  • To develop an understanding and knowledge of hazards associatied with high-risk building and construction work.
  • To focus on changes to SHE in the construction industry with particular emphasis on best practice initiatives.
  • To introduce conflict resolution strategies to help understand and modify behaviours on site.
