Program Authority: Dr Daniela Leonte Managing risk has always been an important aspect of business management but with the increasing rate of change and the growing uncertainty in the modern world effective risk management is becoming increasingly important. In the past, risk management functions were carried out by specialists in separate parts of an organization. As businesses and technology have progressed, managing risk is now part of every manager's role and specialist risk managers are expected to manage significantly broader areas of risk. The course at UNSW aim to bring together expertise in Technology and Engineering and Commerce and Economics to provide a flexible and challenging curriculum which can be adapted to suit both professional risk managers and a broader range of managers who wish to manage risks more effectively. GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN RISK MANAGEMENT AT UNSW Continuing Education in Risk Management The course is designed for managers or engineers for whom effective management of risk is just one of many responsibilities or for professional risk managers who are looking for an overview of risk management applied to different risk areas. Graduate Certificate in Risk Management The Certificate is designed either as a first level course for risk managers or for other managers who wish to learn more about Risk Management. Students can move from the Graduate Certificate into the specialist Risk Management stream, into the Master of Technology Management or the Master of Science and Technology in Safety Science. This course demonstrates application of AS/NZS4360 Risk Management to the particular interest to the student and is also available as a short course and by correspondence outside the graduate programs.
